I'm back! (with a Top Chef Canada update)

These look like some sad deconstructionists! Source: Food Network Canada
Oh my bloggies, I am so sorry to have neglected, I hope you haven't forgot about me and my recaps, reviews and recipes. I was on  vacation in sunny (and rainy) Mexico last week --- prior to that, I suppose just from my blog, sigh. But I have returned with a ton of new restaurants to check out and a new found love of true Mexican food. Had the best street vendor tacos and Mayan made mole that I can't wait to recreate! Also know what true Latinos say corn tortillas are much better than flour.

But first, let me give you my two cents on the recent episodes of TCC.

-- So first of all, my hometown Hamilton boy Gabriel has been ousted after a series of lacklustre soups.

-- What's with Lisa Ray's intensity? Can't she ease up just a little every now and then ---although she did attempt a joke on the last episode and laughed when she squished a meatball, maybe she's also coming into her own. On that note, I don't really think any of the judges are very likable.

-- It was only a small matter of time before Liz got booted, thank god for the others she did. Goooo restaurant wars!

-- I want Marben's Carl to win! What a cutie and his dishes are always consistently good! (Who do you want to win?) I think I'll go to Milestones just to try his winning dish.

-- I think it could be a come from behind win for David---although apparently he "starts to lose it" in the next episode. Though before Monday's episode I was convinced Curtis "I love to spin wheels" would win, even though he's never been to culinary school--that would be an inspiration. Poor Curtis.

-- Susur Lee seems like the coolest dude, but yes, super intimidating, as even Jonathan who worked with him  was shaking in his boots.

-- Love the unmarked can quickfire challenge! But not sure I'd want to eat a lot of those creations.

-- Have "deconstructing a classic dish" on my blogger to do list now, thanks to the elimination challenge on the last show.

Who do you think will win?

  1. Hey Sunny!

We found you! So we watched that episode last night...funny enough. After reading your blog we've come to the conclusion that we are not actual 'foodies' - just a pair of gluttonous hungry lards. Let us know how your deconstructing project fairs!
