Retox day: What a celebratory feast!

After slogging through with too much quinoa and veggies to mention. I am happy to report I am done with the detox. Honestly, it's not bad, I didn't really have any cravings I couldn't quell and it really wasn't too restrictive or expensive.
And most importantly, I felt good, like really high energy and I think I lost some weight (which I've definitely gained back). Sigh, I enjoy indulging just a little too much for me to live like that forever.

But I am still so happy to be done with that. And what a way to end it...with my favourite night of the month. This is a genius idea (sadly I can't take credit) but a group of six girls and I have a monthly supper club -- like a book club but no reading! Everyone brings a bottle of wine and each month one of us tries to impress with a foodie feast. This month it was Andrea's turn and impress she did, with a Greek feast!

The girls indulging in some pre-dinner fare, an array of olives, baba ghanoush and pita.

Meanwhile, Andrea prepared delicious saganaki, the famous Greek fried cheese (usually seen on fire, but we failed to get it lit).
It's so salty and delicious, it tastes like fondue that you can slice. Mmmmm, cheese.

Starting with a chunky and lightly dressed Greek salad with a very light feta-type cheese.  Then we moved on to the main course of peppers stuffed with arborio rice and tomato sauce, as well as homemade spanakopita, and homemade tzatziki. They were golden brown and texture inside was perfect, even using light feta!
Needless to say I was sated at the end of this feast after using my will power for so long. Add some red wine (finally) into the mix and I was in heaven. It was an amazing experience. mmmmm. I'm hosting next in December and the bar has been set high.
